On Thursday afternoon 10/25/12, the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department took delivery of the new Engine 87. The new apparatus will be an addition to the fleet and will be replacing the current Engine 87 (1991 E-One) and will respond out of Headquarters, once placed into service by the middle of November. The Apparatus Committee was formed in November 2010 where numerous ideas and concepts were discussed for such a state of the art fire apparatus. The apparatus went out to bid in December 2011, with Pierce Manufacturing Inc of Appleton WI being awarded the bid after a thorough and exhaustive review of the three proposals submitted. The Village of Sleepy Hollow signed contract with Pierce in April 2012 and the final inspection was held on Tuesday October 16, 2012 and Wednesday October 17, 2012.
