On May 4th and 5th, several Sleepy Hollow Firefighters were trained on extrication techniques involving trucks. Created and sponsored by Stiloski's Automotive Corp. of Tarrytown, the focal point of the class was to introduce first responders to the characteristics of heavy vehicles, techniques to extricate such vehicles and hazards associated with such incidents. Several Fire and Police Department personnel form New York, New Jersey and Connecticut attended the class and worked together in groups to get through each scenario that was presented. The class was taught by Captain Robert Morris of FDNY Rescue 1.
Sleepy Hollow FD hosted the classroom portion of the training at our Beekman Avenue Fire Headquarters, while the hands-on training was completed at the General Motors Continental Street Lot.
