It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Deputy Chief. Jose Ojito (2317). Chief from 2004-2006.

Joining in 1984, Deputy Chief Ojito was a 38 year member of the North Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Fire Department. Even before being the legal age to join, Chief Ojito was chasing the fire trucks around town.

DC. Ojito held several positions in the Department. Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, Chief, Ex-Chief, Deputy Chief, you name it and he's done it. D.C. Ojito was the Department's first Hispanic Chief. He was also a life member of the Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Those were just the things he volunteered his time for his actual job was a Detective with the Tarrytown Police Department. Its fair to say he gave his life to service and helping his community.

We are very saddened by the loss of Chief Ojito. A father, husband, brother, son, a total family man.

We love you Chief & will miss you.

We got it from here, Chief/Detective.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday March 31, 2022 from 2pm -9pm. His funeral mass will be at Transfiguration Church on Friday at 10:30a.m. followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
